Job Title: Assistant Beekeeper
Location: On-site Washington DC
Position Type: Temporary contract 16 to 24 hours a week (2 to 3 days a week between Mondays to Fridays)
Starting date: Asap until end of December 2024
Salary: Starting at 18.90 USD an hour based on beekeeping related experience
Note: potential for longer term employment as permanent Beekeeper in our Washington DC team

About the role
You’re interested in bees and would like to work producing local urban honey? Alvéole has a sweet deal for you! We’re presently looking for collaborators to help and assist our urban beekeepers harvesting our local honey in Washington DC.
Your responsibilities will include: Assist urban beekeepers in their day to day tasks:
- Accompany a beekeeper to harvest honey boxes from client bee hives located on rooftops and/or ground level sites
- Support client communications and provide for successful interactions while on client sites
- Assist beekeeper to load and unload honey boxes from trucks and onto pallets in the warehouse
- Assist in shipping logistics of honey boxes to centralized extraction facility
Skills & Experience
- Active driving license in good standing
- Experience in previous physical roles
- Can handle heat and heavy lifting (40 pounds)
- Attention to detail
- Cleanliness
- Good team spirit
- Customer service
- Enjoys repetitive tasks
- Comfortable around bees
